To obtain your Private Pilot's licence - What's involved? Course content, Student requirements etc.
Helicopter students wish to get a pilots license fly for business and pleasure reasons and we at Ireland West Aviation want to make it a challenging, exhilarating and rewarding experience. To qualify for the issue of a PPL (H) Private Pilot Licence, Helicopter, a person is required to do a minimum of 45 hours flying which combines 35 hours dual and 10 hours solo flying. 5 hours solo cross country is required with one flight at least 100 nautical miles with landings at two independent aerodromes. The training takes place initially in the vicinity of Ireland West Airport Knock with a qualifying cross country before the PPL(H) flight test. Additional costs include a Class 2 medical fee, student study packs, ground school instruction and exam fees.
